This leads me to two interesting topics:
I've recently made contact with my half brother, Steven, in Gulport, Mississippi USA whom I've never met. He happens to be in Real Estate so I'm looking forward to picking his brains when I can.
If anyone is interested in purchasing any real estate in the Gulfport area, why not look up my long lost bro for me... Click here for details.
More importantly though, I have only ever made contact with my brother on the phone and via email - never in person. I'd really like to make this contact with him. Family is so important and it is time I addressed that as my personal goal. I've never told anyone but my reason for entering the Turbulence Training Fat loss competition had a dual purpose. Obviously to lose bodyfat, but also... that's right - to buy a plane ticket to go and see not only my brother (whom I've never met in person), but my father whom I haven't seen for nearly 40 years. A plane ticket for me to fly from Australia to the USA is over $2500. The $2000 prize money would help me a great deal. How's that for motivation to lose fat. Roll on the next Turbulence Training Fat Loss Competition which starts 1st May, 2008.
The 2nd interesting topic is the topic of having a mentor. I believe you need a mentor to guide you through unfamiliar territory - especially when you are extremely busy. You haven't got time to be making too many mistakes. You need to learn from other people's mistakes and their studies to maximise your results. My current mentor is Craig Ballantyne. He's the creator of the Turbulence Training website . I stumbled across his fat loss site, purchased first his ebook and then his membership and have been going strong since August 2007. I've kept with it because he advocates variety within the workouts, between workouts and from program to program. It's kept me interested. Every month he comes out with a great new workout that is both scientific and logical. I trust him because he is always there for me in the forum to answer any questions I have and he also has tertiary qualifications. Most importantly - he's strives for single digit bodyfat. That's my dream!
What's been happening in my life lately? This term for Adventure Studies the theme is bushwalking. I've been getting in extra workouts by climbing up the local mountains - Mount Ngungun:
...Mount Coolum, and this week Mount Beerwah. I took some of my students for an abseil last week off Mount Ngungun. One of my students did his first ever abseil on a 50m pitch. I was so proud of him. Well done Richard! Click here for more info about the Glasshouse Mountains - home of Mount Ngungun, Mount Beerwah, Wildhorse Mountain, and Mount Tibrogargan.
My class and myself are preparing for a 4 day hike known as the Great Walk. It will be about 52km - very challenging when you consider that these kids are all special needs kids. If I get permission from parents I will post a few pics when that happens.
