I'm a special needs teacher at the local high school. I mainly teach alternate programs like "community access" where I bring the elderly and high school kids together and run functions. My main bag, however, is Outdoor Education. I love to take the kids canoeing and kayaking, swimming, bushwalking, abseiling and rockclimbing, fishing, as well as studying the environment. The students themselves are mostly ascertained as having Asperger Syndrome which is another word for "High Functioning Autism". We run a special education unit called the Lighthouse Centre. I guess you could say that I have a fun and active job.
I also, have a couple of part time businesses that I run. The first is a wellness nutritional business called Mannatech. They supply the body with the basic tools for keeping and rebuilding the 600 trillion cells in our body. Some of the studies in this field of glycomics have actually attracted Nobel Prizes.
My other business is called Pascua Enterprises. I help your business set up self editing websites, "state of the art" shoppingcarts, and bill paying services. At the moment though, I only conduct business in Australia and New Zealand.
I'm very proud of my new direction in life because it is actually a dream and a direction becoming fulfilled. Having you being a positive part of my journey will hopefully mean that I can learn new things from you and more importantly, I can inspire you if you are on a similar journey.
At this stage, I think that I should give you a bit of background information.
In the old days, I was a national judo champion - both for New Zealand and Australia, in my weight divisions. I was extremely fit and I knew how to train hard. Those were the days when I lived and breathed judo. I knew who I was and what my purpose in life was. Of course those were the niave days of youth. They were the days when nothing else existed and I had no responsibilities. The future was a long way off - too far to think about it.
Somewhere along the line, reality set in. University studies became a priority. I had to juggle work and studies (and family). All this and not really knowing where I was heading. I became a "creature of my environment". Not being in control became an identity in itself. Out of control in the mind as I now realise also meant out of control with my body. I became fat.
I've just finished a 12 week fatloss transformation contest that I found very rewarding. Here are some pics that I took for the duration of the comp:

Yeah I was 89 kgs at the start of the contest but I have been as high as 97kgs.
Any workout should be hard work otherwise it's not a workout by definition. The trick is to learn to enjoy it - even miss it when it doesn't happen. The real hard work though is getting the nutrition right. There's just so many temptations out there. Other than that, it's the commitment and staying positive. That's where a good support-base comes in handy. If your family isn't going to back you up, then the forum on the TT members website is the perfect place. Everyone is of like mind and full of solutions and ideas.
