Interval Workouts That Burn Fat

If you are struggling to lose fat with cardio, I have great news for you. Men's Health expert trainer Craig Ballantyne sent me these 4 interval training workouts to help you burn fat! There are all types of ways to do interval training, and research hasn't shown us a best way yet. There is NO best interval training workout for fat loss, however, some of my favorites are:

a) 1 minute on, 1-2 minutes off, repeat 6 times.
b) 30 seconds on, 90 seconds off, repeat 6 times.
c) 45 seconds on, 90 seconds off, repeat 6 times.
d) 20 seconds on, 40 seconds off, repeat up to 8 times.

Make sure to include a warm-up and cool-down after each. And remember, you can use all types of interval training methods for these workouts. You can do treadmill running, hill walking, stationary cycling, sprinting outside (if you do extra warm-up), kettlebell swings, medicine ball power woodchoppers, rope jumping, rowing, swimming,or even the elliptical machine (if you think it works). One research study even used 8 seconds on, 12 seconds off for a total of 20 minutes, but these short intervals are almost impossible to do on regular gym equipment.

I Got Lost! Back on the Journey again.

Ok I fell off the bandwagon. I did so well too. I could make up excuses like "I was moving house while also buying a rental house", "I had to paint it and a get tenants in the house", "My arms were recovering from muscle strain", etc, etc, etc but the truth is, I lost my rhythm and I couldn't sustain what I was doing.

So here I am, 3 weeks back into Turbulence training and doing well. I've got a bit of ground to make up - I've put on 8kg in the 2 months that I stopped - man, that was so easy it was scarey. What's the difference this time you might ask? The difference is this time I'm pacing myself. I'm now using the 6 Months Bodyweight program - 3 times a week. This is much more managable and, more importantly, sustainable.

Bodyweight training is surprisingly quite effective. 6 months or more of this and I'll have the capability to train anywhere, anytime - no excuses. I am so enjoying this. Plus I get time to do my latin dancing at the same time.

You can try the 6 month Bodyweight Program for fat loss by buying the Delux TT Package when you Click Here.

Keeping fit amongst the turmoil

Things have been very hectic lately as I'm sure everyone elses has been. Change is afoot for me in terms of having to move house and even find a house. We currently have a housing shortage and for me to rent a place I have to compete with at least a dozen other people who come to inspect the house at the same time. I'm also currently in negotiations to buy an investment property in an area that has great capital growth. Trying to learn the ropes in real estate is certainly challenging when you don't know much about it. That is why I've taken on board a mentor who has been there and done that. Here's to good things happening - I'll keep you posted on how things go.

This leads me to two interesting topics:

I've recently made contact with my half brother, Steven, in Gulport, Mississippi USA whom I've never met. He happens to be in Real Estate so I'm looking forward to picking his brains when I can.

If anyone is interested in purchasing any real estate in the Gulfport area, why not look up my long lost bro for me... Click here for details.

More importantly though, I have only ever made contact with my brother on the phone and via email - never in person. I'd really like to make this contact with him. Family is so important and it is time I addressed that as my personal goal. I've never told anyone but my reason for entering the Turbulence Training Fat loss competition had a dual purpose. Obviously to lose bodyfat, but also... that's right - to buy a plane ticket to go and see not only my brother (whom I've never met in person), but my father whom I haven't seen for nearly 40 years. A plane ticket for me to fly from Australia to the USA is over $2500. The $2000 prize money would help me a great deal. How's that for motivation to lose fat. Roll on the next Turbulence Training Fat Loss Competition which starts 1st May, 2008.

The 2nd interesting topic is the topic of having a mentor. I believe you need a mentor to guide you through unfamiliar territory - especially when you are extremely busy. You haven't got time to be making too many mistakes. You need to learn from other people's mistakes and their studies to maximise your results. My current mentor is Craig Ballantyne. He's the creator of the Turbulence Training website . I stumbled across his fat loss site, purchased first his ebook and then his membership and have been going strong since August 2007. I've kept with it because he advocates variety within the workouts, between workouts and from program to program. It's kept me interested. Every month he comes out with a great new workout that is both scientific and logical. I trust him because he is always there for me in the forum to answer any questions I have and he also has tertiary qualifications. Most importantly - he's strives for single digit bodyfat. That's my dream!

What's been happening in my life lately? This term for Adventure Studies the theme is bushwalking. I've been getting in extra workouts by climbing up the local mountains - Mount Ngungun:

...Mount Coolum, and this week Mount Beerwah. I took some of my students for an abseil last week off Mount Ngungun. One of my students did his first ever abseil on a 50m pitch. I was so proud of him. Well done Richard! Click here for more info about the Glasshouse Mountains - home of Mount Ngungun, Mount Beerwah, Wildhorse Mountain, and Mount Tibrogargan.

Some of the Glasshouse Mountains - Mt Beerwah and Mt Coonowrin.

My class and myself are preparing for a 4 day hike known as the Great Walk. It will be about 52km - very challenging when you consider that these kids are all special needs kids. If I get permission from parents I will post a few pics when that happens.

Glyconutrient Supplements and Fitness

For me, being fit not only means being fit on the outside but also on the inside. I want to have healthy organs and healthy cells - not just low bodyfat and good muscle mass. Having a healthy percentage body fat is obviously an important step towards avoiding the health hazards that come with being overweight but for me I want to go to the next level.
For me, glyconutrients were the answer. They gave me back my energy and helped improve my liver function. I had severe adrenal fatigue due to excessive stress and after taking these supplements I felt good things happen.
The science behind glyconutrients is very important because once we understand them, we realise that these are usually an essential macronutrient that is missing in our diets. Without them our bodies are breaking down. This is not good for fitness when we want our bodies to repair and imrove.
Our bodies can make glyconutrients if the conditions are right but in today's environment that is now a pipe dream. Our world is too toxic, nothing we eat is fresh, and most of what we eat is processed.
You're probably asking "What are glyconutrients and what do they do?" Well, they are special types of carbohydrates that are not used for energy production. Instead they are arranged in various ways onto fats and proteins which in turn make up the cells wall. When they are arranged in different ways they, in effect, become words or braille. When cells "rub" up against eachother, they "communicate". When cells can talk clearly their needs are met. When they can't, hell can break out. Cells can over respond or under respond (or not respond at all).

Just think, we have 600 trillion cells in out body. Healthy cells make healthy bodies. Glyconutrients could be the most important supplement you could be taking. They are like the windows operating system of your body.

The company that I get my glyconutrients from is called Mannatech. Mannatech has a patented this technology so you can't get it anywhere else. If you want to order any glyconutrient products, CLICK HERE.
They have a group of athletes called Team Mannatech that take and endorse their fitness line without payment. Check out their fitness line while you're at it - it's cutting edge. I take them and they help me work that extra hard in my workouts and recover extra fast. They are great products!

Welcome to my Blog

Thank you for visiting my site and a very big welcome. My name is John Pascua and I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. I'm actually a "Kiwi" from New Zealand but I'm afraid that I'm addicted to the beaches here where I live.

I'm a special needs teacher at the local high school. I mainly teach alternate programs like "community access" where I bring the elderly and high school kids together and run functions. My main bag, however, is Outdoor Education. I love to take the kids canoeing and kayaking, swimming, bushwalking, abseiling and rockclimbing, fishing, as well as studying the environment. The students themselves are mostly ascertained as having Asperger Syndrome which is another word for "High Functioning Autism". We run a special education unit called the Lighthouse Centre. I guess you could say that I have a fun and active job.

I also, have a couple of part time businesses that I run. The first is a wellness nutritional business called Mannatech. They supply the body with the basic tools for keeping and rebuilding the 600 trillion cells in our body. Some of the studies in this field of glycomics have actually attracted Nobel Prizes.

My other business is called Pascua Enterprises. I help your business set up self editing websites, "state of the art" shoppingcarts, and bill paying services. At the moment though, I only conduct business in Australia and New Zealand.

I'm very proud of my new direction in life because it is actually a dream and a direction becoming fulfilled. Having you being a positive part of my journey will hopefully mean that I can learn new things from you and more importantly, I can inspire you if you are on a similar journey.

At this stage, I think that I should give you a bit of background information.

In the old days, I was a national judo champion - both for New Zealand and Australia, in my weight divisions. I was extremely fit and I knew how to train hard. Those were the days when I lived and breathed judo. I knew who I was and what my purpose in life was. Of course those were the niave days of youth. They were the days when nothing else existed and I had no responsibilities. The future was a long way off - too far to think about it.

Somewhere along the line, reality set in. University studies became a priority. I had to juggle work and studies (and family). All this and not really knowing where I was heading. I became a "creature of my environment". Not being in control became an identity in itself. Out of control in the mind as I now realise also meant out of control with my body. I became fat.

Recently, I have started to gain that control back again. I have joined a training program called Turbulence Training. This is a fantastic site that has been created by Craig Ballantyne from Toronto. He specialises in Fat loss programs that are highly efficient and motivational. In the fitness circles he is a guru with tertiary qualifications in fitness and someone who walks the talk.

I've just finished a 12 week fatloss transformation contest that I found very rewarding. Here are some pics that I took for the duration of the comp:
